Summary: Based on the famous Lincoln Rhyme books by Jeffrey Deaver, The Bone Collector stars Denzel Washington in the lead role. As a quadriplegic ex-cop, Rhyme has assisted suicide on his mind when a serial killer begins to abduct people from taxis and murder them in gruesome fashions. With the murders mounting, Rhyme recruits Jolie's character, Amelia Donaghy, to help track down the killer.
Review: A first-rate thriller. My only problem with this movie was the revealing of the killer; his reasons for targeting Rhyme and motives for the murders seem to be a tad far-fetched. Aside from that complaint, however, The Bone Collector moves along at a suspenseful pace and, even though Denzel - who is terrific as usual - plays the lead role, it is Jolie who shines. At each crime scene, she is the eyes, ears and feet of the bed-ridden Denzel and she plays the scared, albeit strong, role of a cop haunted by her father's suicide with complete believability. Far from Jolie's sexiest roles, it is one of her most stirring.
