Summary: Antonio Banderas plays Luis Vargas, a wealthy Cuban coffee exporter who sends away for a mail order bride. Enter Julia Russell (Jolie), a woman supposedly from Delaware who sends in her picture ... but when Julia steps off the boat, she is far more beautiful than the woman in Vargas' picture. Vargas is transfixed and marries her immediately. Soon, however, complications arise as a private investigator shows up on behalf of Julia's sister, followed by the sister herself, all wondering what happened to the real Julia Russell. Unfortunately, Vargas has already given his wife access to his bank accounts and she runs away with his money. He pursues, along with the investigator and others. Who is this person and what about her past explains her actions? The movie is comprised of twists and turns and is supposed to leave the viewers wondering what side Jolie's character is on and what role true love plays in the story.
Review: Well, there is a very raunchy sex scene. You see a whole lot of Jolie without the pesky restraints of clothes. Does that make the movie worth purchasing? Perhaps; she is gorgeous. As for the film itself ... well ... did I mention that there is a great sex scene? The plot is severely lacking in well-developed characters or cohesive story lines. It's a jumbled mess. Original Sin, of course, was not made in order to win any Academy Awards, so if you look at it like absurd, (naked) fun, then it's definitely enjoyable. With Banderas for the ladies and Jolie for the fellas, it's hard to not at least enjoy the imagery of the movie.
