Summary: Well-known L.A. surgeon Eugene Sands (David Duchovny) is stripped of his medical license after performing an operation while under the influence of amphetamines. When a man is shot in a club and Dr. Sands saves his life, the doctor catches the attention of criminal Raymond Blossom (Timothy Hutton). Soon, Dr. Sands is lured deeply into the criminal world, as Blossom wants to use these unlicensed medical skills for his own services. Jolie plays Joan, the criminal boss' girlfriend with whom Dr. Sands becomes entangled.ng this to be the time period in which Jolie actually met and fell for BB (in reality, before marrying him and carrying around vials of his blood on her neck), we see she didn't need to pull so deep inside herself to perfect the adoring gazes she is seen giving him throughout.
